Ocean Ventus and Hausvik Energy Yard signs LoI

Ocean Ventus and Hausvik Energy Yard (HEY) has entered into a Letter of Intent (LoI) to develop the HEY area in Lyngdal municipality, Agder, Norway into a fabrication and assembly site for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines, FOWTs.

The Ocean Ventus’ “End-to-End” solution includes prefabrication, assembly, testing, tow to site and installation, as well as future Operation and Maintenance (O&M). By doing prefabrication and assembly at the same location, we save significant transportation costs and CO2 emissions, says Ingvar Apeland, Ocean Ventus CEO.

Ocean Ventus is targeting Norwegian and UK projects with this initiative, including the Utsira Nord project which is planned to go live in 2030. With its cost efficient FOWT design and a fully automated fabrication facility, Ocean Ventus can competitively fabricate the substructure and assemble the complete FOWT in Norway. When the fabrication plant is up and running it will employ about 2 000 people and can deliver up to one FOWT every week.
